Carolyn is an unusual and brilliant combination of cool, objective and analytical thinking and a deeply intuitive /passionate belief in the potential of others
As a coach this plays out as someone who is entirely immersed in the reality of the business/ culture she is working in with an ability to think creatively to picture the future & coach individuals and teams to reach it
Magic !
Carolyn has the ability to think about and plan the future with imagination and importantly wisdom
A significant cultural change was required due to the reluctant merger of diverse businesses
The need for a ‘best of both’ business and leadership approach to value both corporate and local cultures amidst opposition and reluctance to change.
A gap in the leadership skills needed to build effective teams and deliver the business results required.
Firstly, stemming from my passionate belief “that every person is more special than they think” and that skilful coaching releases this potential in others, I wanted to place specific coaches who shared this passion in the teams requiring the most support as I knew they would listen, value individual differences, and develop the skills and leadership ability to drive the business.
I chose Carolyn to lead the most challenging Region as I knew she would bring about the changes required and also provide a successful blueprint for the company to adopt.
At first progress was slow amidst fears of a ‘corporate’ takeover and suspicion and trust issues about the change required. A strategy to build individual and team relationships through investment in a leadership team coaching programme supported by individual coaching and development 1:1’s, led to significant and positive sustainable change.
Carolyn was instrumental in delivering this change and in leading the way for other teams/ the company.
Relationships grew stronger, trust developed and this allowed teams to focus on a shared vision / goals for the future vs a myriad of differing approaches. The diverse skills in the teams began to be recognised and valued vs feared. Individual leadership development plans with 1:1 coaching sessions focused behavioural change to lead to the required business performance.
Before any increased business performance could be achieved in the challenging environment described, the steps above needed to be in place in order to develop skills, relationships, trust and a shared understanding of business goals. Command and control approaches can get quick short term results but will ultimately fail to deliver sustained enhanced business performance.
The investment in a planned strategy of coaching and leadership programmes led by intuitive coaching specialists created a new culture embedded in the business which proved to be the foundation of future business success.
